The right bed for your dog

There is no better time than winter to snuggle in a cozy bed, and that is true for our dogs as well. Every pet deserves a warm bed to snooze in at the end of a long day (or maybe in the middle of the day). So how do you know which bed will be the most comfortable and best suit your furry friend’s needs? Choosing the right bed for your pooch may sound like a simple task, but it is more complicated than one may think. Our dogs, like us, are all different and have unique preferences when it comes to their beds. Here is a rundown of dog bed types that are sure to satisfy your four-legged family member.

Standard dog beds

Looking more like a pillow or cushion, a standard dog bed is the most common type of dog beds. They do not have special features like edges, rims, or many others. They are perfect for pooches that like to sprawl out when they sleep. Standard beds come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and patterns. Do not opt for this type of bed if your pet is diagnosed with joint disorders.

Nesting Dog Beds

Nesting dog beds are very similar to standard dog beds, except they have raised edges. Some dogs cannot sleep until they have “burrowed” into the bed. Getting a nesting bed can help “burrowers” feel safer and more comfortable. Although smaller breeds seem to be the ones who “nest” the most, nesting dog beds are available in all sizes, even for large dogs.

Orthopedic Dog Beds

These beds are designed with arthritic or injured dogs in mind. Orthopedic beds provide extra support for your pet’s body and put less stress on their joints. These beds are made with memory foam and may even have a heated pad or cooling material built into the bed.
